To Tampa He Will Go

Quarterback Byron Leftwich has just confirmed via text message to ESPN that he will be playing next year in Tampa Bay for the Buccaneers, and he is expected to compete for the starting role under center. Leftwich joins quarterbacks Luke McCown, Josh Johnson and Brian Griese on the Buc's roster. One of those three quarterbacks are expected to be released by the end of the week.

Leftwich should be a good fit in Tampa Bay where veteran help is needed after the Bucs released quarterback Jeff Garcia earlier this month.

The Rox roughed up Phillies starter Chan Ho Park the first few innings, jumping out to a 5-1 lead. Hockey Playoff Push

Well the NHL season ends on Sunday. That means a lot of teams can make or break their hopes of playoffs with remaining games on their schedules. Let's take a look at who can fall out of that playoff spot they are currently sitting in.

East
All spots are accounted for in the East playoff picture looks like this
-Bruins - First in the East at 114 points, and two games left
-Capitals - Solid second in the East at 108 points right now, one game left
-Devils - Solid third in the East at 104 points right now, one game left
-Flyers - tied with Canes and Pens at 97 points, two games left
-Hurricanes - tied with Flyers and Pens at 97 points, one game left
-Penguins - tied with Canes and Flyers at 97 points, one game left
-Rangers - tied with the Habs at 93 points, with one game left
-Canadiens - tied with the Rangers at 93 points, with one game left

West
West looks like this right now, all these teams are fighting for the 7th and 8th spot in the west.
-Ducks - has two games left, sitting at 88 points
-Blues - has two games left, sitting at 88 points
-Predators - has two games left, sitting at 88 points
-Wild - has two games left, sitting at 85 points. It's a long shot but it's not mathematically impossible. Only two of those three teams sitting at 88 have to lose both games and the Wild win their two and they could be the eight seed.

West Playoff picture, minus 7th and 8th seed
-Sharks - First in the West at 117 points, one game left
-Red Wings - Second in the West at 112 points, two games left
-Canucks - Third in the West at 98 points, one game left
-Blackhawks - Fourth in the West at 100 points, two games left
-Flames - Fifth in the West at 96 points, two games left
-Blue Jackets - Sixth in the West at 92 points, two games left

Playoffs start next Wednesday the 15 of April. I'm looking forward to another fine year of playoff hockey.

Who Says Goals come at a Premium?

Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs scored between the two teams 13 goals in a single game, Flyers won the game 8-5 though. That's one high scoring game and it's the first game the Flyers won this week. After losing to Boston Bruins last sunday and Toronto on Wednesday. The Flyers where in the need of some points to try to keep ahead of the pesky Penguins and surging Hurricanes. Flyers play Ottawa tonight and Toronto heads to home to welcome Montreal. With all the teams in the NHL either having 4 or 5 games remaining this should make for an exciting finish to a great NHL season and great push for playoffs by all teams.

Arnold Palmer Invitational?

Should be renamed Tiger Woods owns the field invitational. After starting the day one behind 5 strokes and just holding on to those 5 strokes behind on day 2. Tiger did what he has only done once before in his career. He won a tournament down 5 strokes going into the day. That ties his previous career highest come back of 5, that's the most he's ever come back and win a tournament from. After getting knocked out in matchplay his first event back and finishing in ninth his second tournament, for Tiger to win his third back that shows great steps forward. This is all good news for Tiger with the Masters coming up shortly. Let's all tune in a see if Lefty can beat Tiger at the Masters or if Tiger can win his fifth Masters. That would be his 15th Major also.

So, who could actually use Jay Cutler's services?

As promised yesterday, I said I would be getting up a blog that outlines which NFL teams could use soon-to-be former Denver Broncos' quarterback Jay Cutler.

The team that I personally think that could benefit from Jay Cutler's services would be the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings in many analysts eyes are just one position away from winning a championship. Unfortunately, Cutler also came from a pass-happy offense in Denver where he put up 4500 plus yards last season, but the Vikings are predominantly led by their ground attack of "All Day" Adrian Peterson. The Vikings with Cutler behind center would have to revamp their entire offense next year in order to accommodate Cutler.

Keeping with the NFC North, I feel that the Chicago Bears would also be in need for a good quarterback. Both Kyle Orton, and Rex Grossman have proved themselves to be quite worthless over the past couple of years. Chicago is never usually looked at as an offensive team. Throughout their history in the NFL the Chicago Bears have always been a "defense wins championships" team, but could the signing of Jay Cutler switch things around in the Windy City?

Now for the Detroit Lions. The Lions pretty much have their hearts set on Matthew Stafford being their first pick in the NFL Draft this month, but wouldn't it make sense to bring in a veteran even if just for one year so Stafford doesn't have the weight of the entire franchise on his shoulders right away?

Let's move a little west and visit St. Louis now. Marc Bulger has been on a downward spiral as a quarterback for the past couple of years. The Rams could easily use Cutler to hearken in a new era in St. Louis virtually beginning to revamp their entire offense.

Let's head back east now for a two city stop. The New York Jets Jets Jets are now Favre-less and without an accomplished quarterback to win (or lose in Favre's case) games.

Let's cross the great state of Pennsylvania now and head south to Philadelphia. Philly fans over the past couple of years have been calling for the heads of Donavan McNabb and Andy Reid. There has also been rumors flying around in the brains of Eagle fans every where that think a straight up McNabb for Cutler trade would make sense. Personally, I don't think it would. I know quite a few Eagles fans personally *cough*Shane and Billy*cough* that would rip Cuter apart at the first mistake he would make. I also don't think Cutler is mature enough to handle the City of Brotherly Love, but if Cutler could get over his immature ways, I think he would be a good fit for the Eagles' offense.

Not see your team on this list? You should be thankful. Cutler I think would be a good fit in Buffalo with T.O. Could you imagine two drama queens like these two on the field together? One crying because there's another quarterback, and another crying because he's not getting enough balls thrown to him. Come on. These players need to grow up sometime and realized that they should be blessed to play a game that they love for millions of dollars. Thus ends my rant. Good day.
