Back in 2006 the Denver Nuggets struck gold by bringing in Allen Iverson from Philadelphia. Allen Iverson seemed to be a good teammate for the young star for the Nuggets Carmelo Anthony. Though some thought they would argue cause there was only one ball on the court. They actually worked really well together for the rest of the 2006 season and pushed Denver into the playoffs. Then lost in the first round to the Spurs in 5 games.
In 2007 the pair of Melo and A.I. pushed Devener into the Playoffs again. Then lost again in the first round again to the Lakers. So in 2008 the Nuggets looked to try and stop losing in the first round of playoffs and get some where in the playoffs. A.I. and Melo both thought they would finally be able to get over the hump of the first round this year.
But Denver had a different idea of what they wanted to do to the tandem of Melo and A.I. They decided they where going to split them up. Decided to send A.I. to the Pistons in return for Chauncey Billups. It seemed like to some that Denver was getting the short end of the stick with that deal. Trading away a player who always has a shot at winning the scoring title for a more defensive point gaurd.
Denver definitely hasn't seemed to get the short end of the stick Denver currently at 37-17 and winning their division, while Detriot is at 27-25 just barely above .500 winning percentage.
Denver definitely came up the winners after that trade and with Billups they should be able to finally get over that playoff hump even withouth Marcus Camby.
